Mini
car enthusiasts are all revved up for the Hay Mini Nationals event taking place
this weekend from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 June 2012.
The
weekend begins on Friday night, with a welcome party at New Crown Hotel in Lachlan Street. On
Saturday, Hay’s main street
will be closed off for a parade of at least 100 Mini’s which will cruise down
the road and into the Show and Shine where they can be viewed. The Hay Half
Time Fun and Trivia Night will take place on Saturday night at the Hay Services
Club and Sunday will be a day of action at the six event Motorkhana where
drivers show off their skills as they navigate a series of complicated courses.
The action is topped off with the Hay Heroes event in which two drivers compete in a side-by-side
elimination race. The weekend ends with a fancy dress Presentation Party held
at the Hay Memorial Hall on Sunday evening.
The
Hay Mini Nationals are a great family event with plenty to see and do,
including stalls and activities to help keep the kids entertained.
Visitors
to Hay can experience some of the other unique attractions of the area
including a slef-guided River or Heritage Walk, or one of the five museums,
including Shear Outback and the Australian Shearer’s Hall of Fame, and the
Dunera Museum which held over 6,000 German, Italian and Japanese civilian
Internees and Prisoners of War during WWII.
